I hear you, JS. I avoided Amazon's Kindle-lighted case for that very reason.

But since you wouldn't be buying that device yourself, since Sony doesn't simply produce a single model for a given generation, and since the people who want a debugged and updated 700 aren't asking for the 700's defects, their desires seem legitimate to me.

You and I can lobby for different kinds of readers. That won't be affected by their lobbying for this one. Personally, I'd be happy for them if Sony listened.
