I'm pretty well hooked on Jim Butcher's Dresden Files although it's the only series I'm currently following.
I've always loved The Guardians of the Flame by Joel Rosenberg but I gave up after book 5. He killed off the main character in book 4 and then completely changed from 4 books of 3rd person narrative to 1st person narrative from one of the the other characters. A little too jarring for me I guess.
And since he died before finishing the series...I'm hesitant to pick up Game of Thrones. My wife hates me for it, but I refuse to start it until the final book is announced. I rarely pick up series that aren't finished. Of course, I'm the same way with comic books as well.
