Can't quite remember, need to look it up, but I think that was a series too. I read the first, which was OK, usual sort of quest/battle/gene-pool/solitary survivor of race or is it, thing, but I sort of lost track after that, but I'm sure there was more than one.

Yes, Eragon's cover also features a dragon. However, Eragon has more of a Young Adult and fairytale feel. Blood of Requiem is darker and geared toward older teens and adults. Its tone is probably closer to George R. R. Martin (A Game of Thrones), Roger Zelazny (Amber), or David Dalglish (The Half-Orcs).
