AMD and Intel manufacture x86 (CISC) processors, which have higher power requirements than ARM (RISC) processors. You won't find an x86 processor in any eReader or smartphone in the market, the power consumption is too high for extended battery life. The new nook touch and kobo reader use ARM processors , both based on the ARM Cortex-A8 architecture (TI OMAP for nook, Freescale for kobo).
