From what I can tell from the xda devs thread about the manualnooter there's no real intention to make an autonooter for 1.2. They pretty much consider the project of rooting 1.2 complete. I saw someone refer to the extra step involved as a deterrent to people selling root sd cards on ebay. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
