Whichever device you buy I would suggest following the advice of the old-timers on this board many (but not all) of whom are mods.

Buy your books in drm-free format, and if you can't find them that way (and you won't except at Baen and a few other small vendors) buy them in Microsoft Reader format and use convertlit to remove the drm and mobicreator to change the file to .prc or whatever file type works best on your unit.

I bought a Kindle the first day of sale, and have subsequently bought around 96 Kindle books, none of which I can view on my new Iliad (or on any other reader...including the much hoped for Apple ereader).

If your library is drm free it can be shared on any device in the future.

Fictionwise has probably the best selection of books in .lit format.

Be smart....buy wisely.
