definitely. if they're in your area of interest and seem good enough why not buy them for $2 or less.
there are plenty of indie authors that like to sell their work in this range, and many i found by browsing mobileread.

i also found books by john locke, all of his are $0.99 and are really good in the spy/espionage/thriller area.
some better than others but i have all seven to date.

if a hardcover is out that i must have and the ebook is over $6 i have to think long and hard if i want to purchase it or wait it out. normally i'd buy the hardcover at $30 but now i try to curb the spending and find the best deals possible.

sometimes a book will never be in the $2 range but if i can get more in this range than not i consider it a win.
