I was just wondering (and this demonstrates my current level of boredom) how the eDGe detects that the lid is closed?

Is it some switch built into the hinge mech., or proximity devices built into both sides? I've closed the lid very slowly and peeked between the halves, and it seems to be "on" RIGHT up to the moment it closes.

Just curious.
