I have just discovered this thread. Thanks for all the great recommendations! I've always been a fan of Donna Andrews "bird" series (Murder with Peacocks is the first in the series) along with Joan Hess' Maggody series. Robert Barnard is another good writer in the cozy genre, though some of his are hard to find and I'm not sure if any are available as e-books. Lately I've been reading some mysteries by Christie contemporaries. I just finished Mary Roberts Rinehart's Circular Staircase. It was a bit slow at first but I liked the narrator and got drawn into the puzzle.
Now I need to go check out some of the suggestions I've gotten from other posts . . .
