I suspect a lot of the folks turned off by the current arc in the series are trying to read the six volumes to date back to back.
I suspect that at some point Weber and Flint are going to have to edit the concurrent stories into single Omnibus editions minus the duplicate material but that isn't likely any time soon.
Also, one advantage of time off in between the books is the fun speculation of where Weber is taking the series and watching the clues pile up.

True. I was just too impatient.
I've since learned to allow myself time to digest a book before rushing into the next one. Sometimes, though, I just can't help myself!
I've amassed quite a few short stories over the last few months, and I'm sure I'll find more, so that should help me take a breath and cleanse the palate.
