The Lord of the Rings was beautifully shot, but did not resonate with me for some reason, even though I've enjoyed the books many times.

Its the same with the Harry Potter series; I enjoyed the first 4 movies (I have not seen the others), but they are not as dear to me as the books (which I love). I think it is because things went dark in book 6, and I don't want to see everything that happens next played out on screen. I will say , however, that the cast was very well picked and it is their faces I'll see when I read the series again.

I did enjoy Shakespeare in Love and Ferris Beuller's Day Off.
