Borders.com - on backorder? Sold out?

I ordered a kobo touch Saturday morning via the borders.com website. All the advertising said "Delivered by father's day" (it still does). I'm in New Zealand so I'm not expecting to receive it by then of course, but shortly afterwards I hope.

My confirmation email says "usually ships within 24 hours", however, my order status is now "On backorder" (I ordered Lilac - only the blue one was unavailable).

I was wondering what this means? Has anyone else ordered online and if so, what is the status of your order? I am hoping that it just means they are away for the weekend so will ship it on Monday....but it looks ominously like a possible "sell out".
