I don't agree. Having used a Color Nook with and without the protector, there is a big difference. The reason is that the protector is matte-finish plastic and it does not pick up or show fingerprints as much as the glass. Just like handling a satin or matte-finish photograph, which pick up fingerprints much less than glossy ones.

However, the Touch already has a matte finish on its screen, so it doesn't need the protector matte finish covering, IMHO (but it might be a good thing for actual protection from say salt spray or rain if you were outside).
