My brother-in-law asked me for some advice on camera, but I know next to nothing about these things so I, in turn, ask for your advice here...
To simplify, the users should be amateurs, this should be the first usable camera they use (and I would be borrowing this camera. I love photography.)
I had good experiences with Canon, plus the fact that Nikon stores in VN are nowhere to be seen and I don't want to be worried when it comes to warranty. So, Canon. I narrowed down to 2 options: which camera would you recommend: Canon EOS 500D ($670), or PowerShot G12 ($500)?
(the G12 has a preferable price, IMO. But if it doesn't work so well, my brother can afford T1i.)
