How to upgrade portable 0.8.4 ?

hi,

I installed Calibre on a USB stick as described (http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/portable.html) by copying the Program Files\Calibre2 folder to a folder on the USB stick and creating the 2 extra folders.

Using the 'calibre-0.8.5.msi' installer I now try to upgrade that version, but can not choose the USB E: drive as target ? When I type in the path (E:\Calibre\Calibre2) this message pops up :
"Installation directory must be on a local hard drive."

or should I just use the new portable version I read about ???
and can I rename the already existing "CalibreLibrary" and "CalibreConfig" folders to "Calibre Library" and "Calibre Settings" respectively ?
