If it was from an independent author that might not be the case, though, right? Almost nothing of mine starts off life as an epub. The things I have in stores other than Amazon were originally DOC files (at least, on my end) and gets converted by Amazon and Smashwords, respectively. The only epubs I produce are sold directly on my website.
