Is anti-glare screen protector necessary?

I saw that B&N has an anti-glare screen protector available for the Nook Touch for when you use it outdoors to reduce glare and also protect from fingerprints.

Does anyone own one of these and do you feel it makes a difference? The screen already has a matte finish and it doesn't attract fingerprints. I own a NC and I immediately got the anti-glare screen protection because of the fingerprint smudges, but I don't see the point for the Nook Touch.
