I have several hundred books - I can't afford to replace them all digitally. I think it would be great if you could send photographic proof to the publishers which would then allow you to download the book for a dollar or two - like most other people, I wouldn't mind paying a small amount for a replacement.
Here in the UK, I can buy books from Fictionwise for around $6 - that's only about £3, but multiply that buy around 500 and it'll be £1500
Whereas, a £1 a book, well, I wouldn't mind that quite so much - especially as I can sell the hardcopies for about that anyway
