Sometimes people get mixed up like that in my dreams too. My parents will be totally different people, or my friends in the dream will be people I've never seen before in my life. It always throws me off, because I wake up feeling like I have more friends. Then the coffee kicks in.

I had a professor once tell me that a psychiatrist would have a field day with my dreams. I think pshrynk here agreed with him, too, (which is why I've stopped telling people my dreams!). I have enough mental obscurity, without somebody getting up in there and stirring it around!
