A backlit LCD screen is a very different beast from an eInk screen, and comes with its own issues: poor battery life, lack of visibility in bright light, and so on. A cover with a built-in light is, IMHO, the best of all worlds - it has no impact on the screen readability when not in use, and is always there when you do need it. I have a Kindle with the Amazon cover with a built-in light, and it's great.
