Making everything bold

I was going to ask if there was anything that would add a bold text on/off switch, but it just ocurred to me that all I would need to do would be rename some of the fonts so that the one it expects to be normal would be bold, and the one it expects to be italic would be bold-italic? Would that work?

I'm currently converting files to epub and then changing the stylesheet so that everything is bold before converting back to mobi, but if the Kindle could do it by itself then it would work in the website browser too.
