Funny, but in my house, there is prep before dish washing.

--Make sure roommate is not taking a shower before turning on water
--Turn on water and wait for it to get hot. Still waiting... waiting... okay.
--Fill up right side of sink with hot water and dish soap.
--Dump all dirty dishes into aforementioned soapy water.
--Go take a nap.

Usually, by the time I get back to kitchen to actually DO the dishes, my roommate has already gotten them done. It works out very nicely.

Edited to add: In my cup - Coke Classic over quickly melting ice.
