Many things have been discussed ad nauseum in the past. Perhaps most things ebook related.

Many rebukes have also been posted in the past along the same lines.

Myself I do not take offense if someone wants to start a new thead on an old topic as I find that topics with more than five pages get a bit unwieldly.

The time a new user would have to spend viewing and correlating all posts relating to many topics would be prohibitive. Many people need to post to feel part of a community and not everyone has something original to say.

Some mobileread subforums actively discourage replying to older threads so a new user could be confused.

Probably I am mistaken, but I believe that General discussions was for generally discussing things whether repetitive or not. And correcting people on their terminology when their meaning is pretty plain seems a tad persnickety.
