My PRS-650 works, doesn't freeze up, and though the screen is definitly slightly sub-par contrast wise, at least it doesn't have any bad pixels.

I might have been tempted to exchange it, but by the time I figured out that it's contrast was slightly sub-par, it was too late to exchange it for a new unit, and I damn sure would not risk getting an even flakier unit from Sony support's switch-around-the-problems refurbished dud program.

I had a friend that went round and round with them on a Sony Netbook, and ended up going through three exchanges before getting a unit only slightly worse than the unit he sent in originally.

So I decided to quit while I was ahead.

It will effect my willingness to pay a premium for Sony products in the future though.
