I always try to ignore both progression bars and the last few pages of a book. It tends to remind you that the ride is almost over, but unless you specifically look, you don't really know when (Is the wrap-up after the climax really 10 pages? Or will the last 8 pages be advertisements for other books, plus your local Starbucks?). I've also been known to rush through an after-climax ending, just because I'm expecting the end any second now.
Generally, though, I don't give any thought to the actual length of the book... after all, some of the best novels I've ever read were less than 150 pages long. So I just note the bar, mostly for bookmarking's sake, and put it out of my mind.
