In my opinion, 15 m is not "a limited range" for a portable device, inside a house. You should consider many factors like how your house is built and organized.
I used the eDGe (not the pocket) in a three levels house where the wifi modem was placed at the firts floor, and I was on a bed in the last. It performed good.
