I doubt it will ever be a full Windows replacement, although many have installed Ubuntu, and a couple of owners Win 7, as dual boots. As for driver support, you just plug in and usually it works. My thumb drives, external video cam, mouse, and external keyboard (although keyboard is really unneeded) all work. An external monitor mirrors if plugged in while on, offers dual view if plugged in before boot up. The beauty of it it's portability, built in 3G and still to come GPS. I have taken it on a couple of long drives to work on while my husband drives and usually bring it to school if I needed more than my (now dead) edge.
