A normal "linked" image in a book is NOT a cover image - even if it appears on the first page of the book. A cover image is especially marked as such in the file. The "Cover Image" menu item in the Windows mobi reader will display it, and the library manager on the Gen3 will automatically display it as the book's "cover" in the library.
When you use "mobi2mobi" to add a cover image to a book, you are adding that special flag to the file which says "this image is a cover image". What the tool CAN'T do is go through the HTML code of your book and remove any OTHER references to that same image that it might find - and nor would you want it to, in many cases.

What mobi2mobi is doing is ADDING the link in the HTML code to make the second cover image displayed. I'm starting with a Mobipocket fiule that has no cover image and trying to add such. The cover image and cover image link get added fine. But the link to place the cover image on the first page also gets added. That's where the bug comes in. he file I was trying to add the cover image to was made in BD without any sort of cover image at all. So when I add the cover image, I get a cover image and a copy of the cover on page 1. Mobi2mobi is adding the link to display the cover image a second time. It's not already there. The fault in this case does lie with mobi2mobe for putting in the link for the cover image on page 1.
