I did buy one on Crapal-Tunnel Surgery, which is intended for doctors, meaning it's ridiculously expensive and I can't deduct it from my taxes. Not only does it have lots of pictures, it also has everything numbered, with lots of arrows and things. Some of these are obviously put on the pictures, photoshop style, but some look like they're drawn right on the patient. I hadn't though about surgery being sort of a color-by-numbers thing, but if you take the trouble to mark everything out first, probably anybody can do the surgery, in the same way that anyone can paint Da Vinci's Last Supper just by buying a kit. Of course, not everything is in the book (that's what medical education is about), but I'm sure you can fill in with a little googling. For example, it doesn't say to wash your hands first, although I'm pretty sure you're supposed to.
