No offense taken I doubled checked again about the plastic protective layer even though I was sure I had removed it when I first got the eDGe. I now have scratches around the edges of the lens to confirm there's no plastic layer

You're right about lighting. In the bright outdoors it's better. I have a Canon Rebel DSLR, so it's a bit difficult to see the eDGes camera as anything resembling adequate.
