Yes there is hibernation, if I am understanding it correctly, in Dingo. I have not upgraded (yet -- still planning to eventually!) and when I close my PE it hibernates. I think. The LCD powers off and I wake it later with the home button, then menu button to unlock. No long startup as from complete power off, but it seems to conserve the battery -- meaning I still have a charge after ~10+ hours away from AC.
