Best practices for managing multiple files in library ?
Hi all,
What is the best practice to store personal files on the edge, within or outside the library ? In which directory ?
Is there a way to remove multiple file in the library or to "reset the index" easily ? Can we have "folders" within the library ?
Here's my experiment and adventure :
New owner of a PE, I would like to use it to review pdf articles and paper I have on my zotero database.
I have them organized by year/author on my PC. I transfered them all (almost 1.5 gig) in the PE, under the "documents" folder on the PE, then, within the library app, I add them to the library (which took a while for the PE to digest them). I hoped that the library would respect the folder structure, but it just made a huge list.
Then I figured that they took a lot of space within the PE, so maybe I did not need all of them, so I plugged back the PE to my PC and erased some of them.
Back to the PE, the erased file where still listed in the library, but inaccessible (as the original file has been destroyed). Plugged the PE to the PC, and figured that the pdf files where also copied to a hidden folder called .sei. So I erased them also here.
Back again to the PE ... and the file are still showing in the library ( I guess there is a DB within the PE that store the list of files and their location). I tried to shutdown-restart the PE, hoping it would reindex the library ... no luck...
To solve the problem, I had to go to the library app in the PE, to enable the check marks, to browse though the huge list of files and select the pdfs files, and then to press "delete". (It needed HUGE patience... anyway, I practiced sliding within the PE))
I certainly complicated myself. I ma really interested to hear how do you manage and organize your files within the Edge (pocket or not)
