My comments may be a dead giveaway that I have no knowledge of business at all. But, I'll add my 2 yen anyway. It seems to be that the people "made happier" by the release of Android 2.2 are going to be people who already own the device and are unhappy to be stuck using 1.6. The big advantage of 2.2 will be speed, Flash and the ability to use apps that are only working on 2.2. I kind of doubt that 2.2 on the eDGe in March 2011 will do much to attract lots of new customers, when other devices will be shipping with Android 3.0 (supposedly anyway, such as the Motorola Xoom). It seems that people will be attracted to the eDGe because they see the potential in the unique hardware. After they are "hooked" by the hardware they are going to want a robust app store and the ability to use the latest. Thats a problem, at least as I see it. The SDK could attract new customers by expanding the software base.
