I was hoping your statement was universally true... It could depend on exactly what settings a given app or website uses for "iPad" video.
I took a 1080p video and used RealPlayer Converter's default "iPod" and "iPad" settings to convert it to M4V (I had to change the extension to MP4 for the eDGe to recognize it). Neither my EE nor PE could play the video of the iPad version (although the audio did play). Both eDGes played the iPod version perfectly, and the iPod quality on the PE in particular was indescernible from the original full HD on my laptop, mainly because of the PE's smaller screen (which means you don't notice the lower resolution).
I also downloaded both the iPod and iPad versions of the same video as posted on the MSDN Channel 9 website (
http://channel9.msdn.com/Shows/Endpo...osoft-Platform). Both already had the MP4 extension. Again, the iPod version played fine on both eDGes, but the iPad version, as downloaded from the website, didn't work on either (other than the audio).
I'm not sure, but iPad videos are probably 720p which the eDGe struggles with, depending on the exact encoding settings. The eDGe has no problem with 480p videos.
So, depending on the website and your transcoding software, the iPad version *may* work, while the iPod seems to *always* work
RealPlayer Convertor doesn't have the "Archos Android Tablet" preset. Given that the Archos tablets are 5" and 7", they may well provide improved quality that does work since chances are it's in fact 480p video, similar to iPod but with slightly better encoding settings.
If anyone else has found iPad videos to work on either the PE or EE, please describe the source of the video or the transcoding app you used.
