Questions from a returning student...
I have been reading a lot of the threads in the forum so perhaps my questions may be repetitious. My apologies, I do learn but it takes awhile. I retired two years ago this past Halloween and have returned to college to complete my Bachelors degree. I am tired of carrying a heavy load of paper to class. I take notes the old fashioned way by handwriting and I record the lectures using a MP3 player to make sure I really heard everything correctly. The Edge seems to have most everything I need. But I have some questions before I buy.
I've used one e-textbook from CourseSmart and it went OK. Checking my books for the last 3 semesters against the ones available on the Entourage site and none are available at this time. I expect this to improve with time. If I can use the textbook on my PC, a Windows 7 system, and the publisher doesn't give me a choice of formats odds if it running on the Edge are slim, correct?
Can the Journal notes be converted in to text to become searchable?
I am planning on the purchase next month, so will the system be upgradeable in the future? I see a lot of conversation about Android but very little about updating the e-ink side. E-ink is static and not really an OS in need of an upgrade? I am unfamiliar with Android OS, I gave up my data phone when I retired, haven't missed it yet, but Android being a mobile OS it will keep changing with the technology.
Many of my courses use PDF from the university Library. Can I change an annotation or a highlight without starting all over?
These PDF's are images rather than text is there an app that will convert them to text and does the Android version of Adobe Reader support reading the text as Reader V. 9 does on my PC.
Thanks
