The problem is that the Edge is now so far behind the rest of the Android world that there are now significant numbers of apps being released that won't work on it. You're correct in saying that 2.2 won't finish the Edge any more than it finishes any other product, but it would at least let us catch up to the rest of the platform for a brief time.

And the Edge isn't going to be unique forever. They can't count on that advantage lasting much longer.
