Honestly, unless the you can find the K2 for a ridiculously low price (e.g., $50), I don't think the money saved would be worth it. It would be a used device with no warranty and no customer service. You probably also won't see firmware updates.
I had a used K1 for a long time. It's not bad having an older device, but you quickly realize what you're missing with the newer features, even if you don't really need them.
