I have a question about e-book formats and the eDGe.

If, as is implied in this thread, some form of DRM is required how do I use the the e-books (PDF) that I have produced (at the moment I use a netbook but it is a PITA trying to read the service manuals in the sun)? Do I have to run them through Calibre or some other program to be able to use them on the e-ink part of the eDGe?
