I don't think the Wacom tips are anything other than plastic.....it is the mechanism inside the pen body that makes the pen work. In other words taking just the tip won't do anything for the Eink side. It would still work for the LCD side though.

PS. Checked Wikipedia.....they have some kind of capacitor inside the pen that makes it work in proximity to the screen.
