I apologize if my previous post was misleading - the instructions provided were for when there is no external keyboard connected to the eDGe. As of right now, I believe that when you have an external keyboard connected to the eDGe you cannot bring up the Android keyboard. Tomorrow at the office I will verify this with our SQA team.

Good news though, one of the developers told me today that they have already added in a fix that will allow for the input of a Tilda from an external keyboard, and this fix will be in our next software release.
