I have had the original Sony PRS-500 for over a year and and yes, the Sony software is a bit slow transferring files to the unit. But it is faster than transferring files to an add-in card and then waiting for the unit to reformat and paginate the files on the unit when you access them there. (Then again the PRS-500 is a USB 1.1 device.)
