My take on the situation is that enTourage doesn't want to release a SDK until it's complete, well-designed, and they have the time to assist developers in getting any eDGe-specific applications ready. Right now they're focusing on the 2.x upgrade and additional functionality for educational-specific applications like Blackboard. Understandably, getting those things are a higher priority than support for developers since they will have a greater impact on back-to-school sales.
I would encourage prospective developers who are frustrated by a perceived lack of progress on the SDK to take a look at the big picture. Whether the SDK is released today or a few months from now, economies of scale dictate that a sufficiently large user base must exist before developing eDGe-specific apps is economically viable. Thus, enTourage's complete focus on producing the 2.x upgrade, etc. is actually in the prospective developers interest. Moreover, successful app development requires a partnership between each developer and the device manufacturer--for either to profit, there needs to be symbiosis between the two as your long-term objectives are actually one in the same: making money off of delivering an enhanced user experience. Making threats and trying to spread completely unfounded rumors are not only wholly unprofessional, but indeed counterproductive to your stated interests as well.
