I have an edge and I love it too. I think it is great that you are using it to teach. It is amazing how mobile solutions can provide another avenue for learning. I'm not sure why you are having problems with the YouTube app on your edge. If I were you, I would call your provider and see if it has something to do with your operating system or if it is the YouTube app itself.
