The weird thing is that even if you just booted up the eDGe and obviously have not opened or edited a journal, when you go to open an existing journal it prompts you to save before you open. Since there is nothing to save (and no point saving a blank file) you have to just hit cancel. Then the journal you clicked on (in library) will open fine.
