Question some dowloaded apps stopped working....

Just last week, some of the apps I had downloaded stopped working. When I try to start them, I get an error message that says " Sorry! The application xxx has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Then there is a force close button. Tried the google search, but all mentions seem to be related to app development. I've tried reintalling the APKs but i get the same error.
Any ideas on why this might be happening? Is there any way to reset the device completely?
