You do not need to register in order to get updates, the eDGe was designed so that you can update the device without it being registered. The code 101 - The software update has failed due to a network connection problem. Check your network settings and try again. This is not an Adobe issue and only seems to affect downloading the update. Please be sure to submit a ticket so that the support team can work on this issue with you.
