Hey there,
I can answer a couple of the gripes and will follow up with the others hopefully later today, depending on what time permits.
Issue:
"I have to have SD card to move files with miniUSB. Why can't I transfer directly to available filesystem?
You are able to transfer files directly to your computer without using a SD card. The knowledge base article
https://www.entourageedge.com/suppor...kbarticleid=83 details how to do this. To make life a little easier I will post the steps below.
To connect the enTourage eDGe to a PC:
1. Make sure both your PC and your enTourage eDGe are powered on. Locate the mini-USB-USB cable included with your enTourage eDGe.
2. Connect the standard-sized USB connector to a USB port on the PC.
3. Connect the mini-USB connector to the enTourage eDGe through the port on the top of the device next to the Wi-Fi switch.
4. On a Windows PC, you will see the notice New hardware detected. Do not allow Windows to search for a driver (select Cancel on the prompt).
5. On the enTourage eDGe, the Notification bar will indicate a new notification indicating a USB connection. Pull down the notification bar to open the notification.
6. Choose Mount to connect the enTourage eDGe to the PC. You should now be able to transfer files to the enTourage eDGe from your PC.
7. After you have moved the files to the enTourage eDGe, you need to pull down the USB notification at the top of the LCD and select Turn Off.
8. Disconnect the mini-USB cable from the enTourage eDGe.
9. To locate your files, open the Library. Select Storage--> Internal Storage-->Public.
Issue:
"Cross platform interface-- Is there some interface for a regular computer/laptop through which I can access the PDF database? From the computer I would like to have access to the complete library, tags, *searchable* annotations and all. This is imperative when it comes time to author a new manuscript for a conference or scientific journal."
For this issue, you can use the process for the previous issue to connect your device to your computer. Unfortunately your computer will be unable to see items that are in your library but you can export these from your library to the internal storage, which your computer can see. This is done by checking the box to the right of an item in your library (multiple items can be selected at once), and then selecting the Export button that appears at the bottom of the screen once an item is selected. Once the guide is exported to a storage medium, you can connect your eDGe to your computer you will be able to see the your files and copy them over.
Another way, though more of a work around, as you can only do one at a time, is to export your document from the eInk side. It can export a document as a PDF to email as well as internal or removable storage.
Issue:
"I would like Flash."
Flash will be available in a future software update.
Issue:
"Add apps-- I can't figure out how to add new apps to the device. It doesn't seem to be in the eDGe User Guide. how do i access them?"
An eDGe App store will be available in the future, until then you can check out the Android Apps Forum (
http://www.entourageedge.com/forums/...8-Android-Apps ). Android applications discussed within this forum that are not downloaded from the eDGe App Store, or approved by us, are not officially supported or sanctioned by enTourage Systems. Users should be aware that installing and/or using these applications may have adverse affects on the operation and battery life of their eDGe.
