I use a dictionary to look up words that I don't know the meaning or usage used in the book I'm reading. This is especially true, for me, for words that have fallen out of usage recently or are archaic. Examples of authors using such words are Lawrence Sanders and Eric Flint. Nice to have the dictionary on my Kindle as I am more likely to look up those words and learn something.

As far as the Mensa thing goes, I sent in my application about 35 years ago and it came back because I had messed up the address. I figured that was a sign that I really wasn't meant to be a member.
