I'm kind of wondering how someone could mess up their PC by using the plugins. I've been using the plugin since it's first release and I'm now using the current release. The worst that's happened to me is I once had to clear my collections.json file and start over, but I assure you that was caused by 100% user error, not the plugin.
I don't think you're paranoid, just cautious. There's no mandate to use collections management by a certain point, just do what you're comfortable with, and we're here to help if you decide to take the plunge.

Thanks guys/gals; Perhaps it's time I dive in.....one question, the author of Calibre has said that he didn't include a collections item because the kindle has to be rebooted to register/update the new collections info???....Is this still the case?
