The bottom back half of the reader slides out.

The images go backwards.
I had the cable attached, so you can identify what is the bottom side of reader.
The first removal of the lid is difficult, because it is a nice tight fit and you do not know how to push. After some practice (with testing beta versions of firmware ;-) ) you would be able to do it with one hand.
